Borough of South Bound Brook Municipal Web Site

 

South Bound Brook is a Borough in Somerset County, New Jersey. The estimated population, in 2003, was 4,496.

What is now South Bound Brook was originally formed as a town within Franklin Township. On March 16, 1869, the name of the community was changed to Bloomington, which lasted until May 29, 1891, when the name reverted back to South Bound Brook town. South Bound Brook was incorporated as an independent borough by an Act of the New Jersey Legislature on April 11, 1907, based on the results of a referendum held on May 1, 1907.

Message From New Jersey American Water

New Jersey American Water will be temporarily changing its water treatment process at Raritan-Millstone and Canal Road water treatment plants from a chloramine (combined) residual to a free chlorine residual. This change will take place beginning February 1, 2012 through March. During this time period, customers may notice increase in the taste and smell of chlorine in the water. This is a  normal and will only be temporary. As always, we will continue to monitor the water quality to ensure the service we deliver meets federal and state drinking water standards. Thank you for your patience.
